Infidelity Dna Testing
blood types question?
Eric has type B blood.
His wife has type A.
Their son Matt is type B.
Their son Jacob is type A.
Their son Jeremy is type AB.
Their son James is type O.
The wife claims no infidelity, but Dan is concerned. Should he have a DNA test for any of the sons? Why or why not?
No, it is possible that the wife is telling the truth. The situation works if Eric has B and O alleles (making him B as this is the dominant allele) and his wife has A and O.
Therefore, Matt would inherit B from his dad and O from his mum making him B overall.
Jacob would inherit the A from is mum and the o from his dad.
Jeremy would inherit the A from his mum and the B from his dad.
Since O is recessive, James would have inherited one O from his mum and one O from his dad.
