This is a good question because it is difficult to stay with someone after they have cheated. In my case both of us cheated on eachother and we are still currently together. We both sacrificed pride among other things and what really helped is that both of us really want it to work and want to be faithful to one another. Another thing we had to do is put it behind us. We couldn’t bring it up during a fight. We really had to forgive eachother and move on. It’s really hard and I’m not sure if you’re religious but I went to God when I had my doubts and I asked for my partner to be transformed and little by little we have both changed for the better. We’ll be together for 7 years in May and I can’t say I have any regrets. Everything happens for a reason. Oh and another thing there has to be an open line of communication at all times. Couples have to be able to communicate their feelings in order to clear some stuff up. Best luck to you.

I don’t think this means you have some secret desire to cheat, or that you’re looking for somebody else. Sometimes we just dream what we dream, and there is no big revelation or decoding to be had. My guess is that focusing on these dreams (and your husbands!), or worrying about them, only causes more of them. Don’t worry, keep loving him, and reassure him. I wouldn’t make a big deal of telling him every time you have one of these dreams, either– if you know they’re not representative of your feelings, don’t worry him with them!

The feeling you have is closure. That is what you want. You want to know why things happened like that, how he could cheat, what went wrong, what could of been done to prevent it. You just want what you are entitled to, an answer. Learning how things digressed could help you later in life as well. You Can Make A Marriage Work After Infidelity

It might have been some time ago, but can you still remember that first spark that drew you to your partner, it made your heart perform all sorts of strange rhythms and left your mind bereft of all rational thought, you were just so focused on your partner. You know how the story goes, you dated and as your love grew, that spark burned ever brighter until that happy day that that you were joined together as Man and Wife. Your dreams come true, two made one, what more could you ask for. And, as it does, time drifts on. The honeymoon period had become just a faint memory, that is if you still remembered it, the spark that had drawn you both together had faded to just a faint flicker, the relationship was no longer fresh and golden, if anything it had become a bit stale, a bit mundane, a bit boring?

And then came the day, maybe your partner confessed or maybe they were caught, either way they had an affair and your very existence came crashing down around you. So my friend, how do you, make a marriage work after infidelity?

If the situation becomes known outside of your relationship then you are going to have a lot of well meaning friends and family who will try and help, it might be the last thing that you need at this point but do not push people away, these are your support network and you will need their help and support as you try to make sense of things. And once you are hopefully back together you will still want and need them to be there.

I guess that everything up to this point was pretty clear, you had everything mapped out way into the future, now that future has gone and neither of you know if your world will ever be the same again. You get dragged through shock, pain, depression, anger, disbelief, fear and guilt. These are intensely powerful emotions and they set you on an emotional rollercoaster that hurtles you through them again and again. You have to want to get of that ride, which will not be easy, but unless you do, what hope for your future. Now I know that things are looking pretty grim, but despite what has happened, it does not have to end in divorce.

All over there world there are couples getting back together on a daily basis, many will have gone through what you are going through and I do not doubt that some have gone through worse.Iif you both still love each other, why can’t it happen for you?

Back to that question of how to make a marriage work after infidelity. Like it or not you are going to have to talk to each other. Please do not leave it for too long because the longer you take the more difficult that it is going to be for someone to take that first step, and the less likely you are to get back together. It’s easier said than done but try remain objective and whatever you do, do not get into a shouting match, you are trying to heal the situation, not make it worse. O.K, you know that something has gone desperately wrong for you both to be in this situation. You both have to identify the problems or problems before you can move forward. If you have made mistakes in the relationship then you have to own up to them, they were your actions so take responsibility for them. If both of you are going to stand any chance of rebuilding the shattered trust in your relationship then there has to be complete transparency between the two of you.

A marriage is joining of two equal partners, you need to re-establish a connection to that and together, work out how you can move into the future together. The biggest step of all to take, and this one is massive, is that of forgiveness. Regardless of the outcome of this situation, if you ever hope to move on with your life and be happy again, then you have to be able to forgive. If you cannot forgive then it could eat away inside of you and poison the rest of your life. But then when you are hurting bad, it is not easy to forgive.

Without being able to forgive you will never be able to rebuild that bond of trust that is vital to a healthy marriage. Without being able to forgive, the pain that hurts you now will be replaced with distrust and suspicion, and that is not healthy. So, how can you make a marriage work after infidelity? You can go through everything that I have mentioned so far, and hey you will be back together. However, if the passion has all gone then you are at risk of going through this sorry mess all over again. Go back to when you first met. It was passion that kindled that first spark, O.K so you both let it fade, but there was something that drew you both together. Back in those early years you meant everything to each other, you have to find to re-kindle your passion for each other, you need to be able to connect with each other again.

You need to find some neutral ground where nobody knows you and just take some time finding out about each other, all over again. Once you have made that connection do not let the spark go out again. Go out and do things together, find interests that you can share. Go for a meal, a walk in a park, buy a bunch of flowers, call, email, text or even something as simple as washing the dishes. Personally I think that the best gestures are the simple ones, they come from the heart and are things that say I am thinking about you and that I care. Whatever you do, do not lose the passion it is what makes you strong, together.

There you have it my friend, if you still have the passion and love for each other then no matter what the problems that you face now or in the future, you will be able to face them, together. - Open House -

We (my “adopted” sister, her husband, and I) have an “open house” policy.

If any friend falls on hard times and needs a place to stay, all he/she has to do is call, or simply drop in. Over the past two years, we’ve taken in countless “strays” and helped them as much as we could.

Whether it was a battered wife, abused girl/boyfriend, abandoned child, or delinquent adolescent; my home became the most popular haven in our “Mubon” (Thai: village) and “Soi (Thai: street), a warm and safe place to go when there were no other options.

The visitors stayed long enough to overcome their individual, temporary crisis – sometimes two weeks, sometimes two months. Once they were back on their feet again (emotionally, physically, and financially), we bid them a hearty farewell; wishing them all the best for a better life.

The benevolence was always repaid – not in money, but in much needed assistance.

As a Falang in Thailand, the simplest things tend to be frustratingly difficult to accomplish. Many times, when I needed help doing mundane, but vital, tasks (e.g., ordering food, purchasing a motorcycle, getting directions, traveling by taxi or bus, changing currency, etc.); I could rely on the people I’d helped in the past.

Asians have very long memories, indeed. It is not uncommon to return to a place many years later and find that casual acquaintances still remember your name, the things you did, and the things you like or dislike.

- Number One -

Her name was Nueng (Thai: Number One). In any other country, she would be described as quite attractive: smooth, brown skin; a slim, athletic figure; long, dark brown hair that cascaded down her back, and an exotic face that held a beautiful smile and alluring eyes.

But by Thai standards, she was “over the hill” at 24 years old.

In her younger years (from ages 16 through 21), she was considered quite a beauty, being the object of desire of all the local men in her village. Unfortunately, she ended up with the local Bad Boy and spent most of her “beauty years” in an abusive relationship.

Out of personal pride and familial/public pressure, Nueng stubbornly tolerated years Of Infidelity, lies, and physical abuse from her longtime boyfriend. But the rape of her little sister was the last straw. She finally left him…and, via my sister, ended up in my house.

- Nueng Who? -

Nueng arrived on a Friday afternoon while I was still working. My sister had already asked me if it was alright for Nueng to stay with us, saying, “You met her last year at the ‘Moo Kra Ta’ (Thai: BBQ), remember?”

I said, “No (I don’t remember), but if she needs a place to stay, yes, of course, it’s okay with me.”

When I saw Nueng, I instantly remembered who she was.

During a birthday party at a local Moo Kra Ta for a friend last year, Nueng and I met and spoke briefly. I also remember that the woman who accompanied me to the party got very jealous of Nueng – mainly, because Nueng was, as the girlfriend put it, “too friendly” with me.

It also irked my date that Nueng was not the usual “terrified to speak English” (especially to a foreigner) Thai woman. On the contrary, Nueng was a good sport. She was not afraid to speak (and mangle) the English language. I reciprocated with a proper bashing of the Thai language, having great fun trying to make sounds that have no English counterpart whatsoever! No exaggeration – sometimes I think it takes an extra tongue (or at least a spare epiglottis) to speak Thai!

I also remember telling my sister that Nueng reminded me of a girlfriend I had in Hawaii (many years ago).

- That First Night -

During the first night at my place, I could plainly see that Nueng was hurting. Being Thai, she forced herself to smile whenever I looked at her, but her eyes couldn’t conceal her true feelings.

Her beautiful brown, Asian eyes displayed a forlorn look – that sad expression seen on people with no one (and no place) to call their own. Of course, there were countless other reasons for her unhappiness too (shock, rage, loss, grief, heartbreak, uncertainty – and the list goes on and on).

Recently overcoming heartbreak, I truly empathized with Nueng, trying to make her feel as comfortable as possible – and failing miserably. My clumsy attempts at hospitality only widened the cultural gap between us, reinforcing the fact that, yes, I am a “Falang” (Thai: foreigner) in Thailand.

Sadly, Falangs in Thailand don’t have the greatest reputation for being respectable or reliable.

Since I couldn’t communicate well with Nueng, I could only imagine what she was going through. Maybe she was wrestling with the idea of going back to her abusive boyfriend? Statistics show that recidivism (to repeat a bad habit or return to an abusive situation) is high among abused girlfriends and spouses. Inwardly, I deeply hoped she would be strong enough to do what was best for her life (and safety).

- To Commiserate, or Not To Commiserate? -

I wanted to reach out to Nueng and tell her that things will only get better.

But I personally knew that during the post-breakup shock and blues period, words don’t really help much. Good people, kind actions, and a different, supporting environment soothes emotional wounds better than listening to cliché-sounding advice.

I wasn’t sure if she was ready to talk about her situation.

I wanted to tell her how I profoundly understood what’s she’s currently feeling. I wanted to tell her that abuse isn’t just a “woman problem,” it happens to men too. If she heard about my recent experiences dealing with the ex’s infidelity, lies, mental abuse, financial recklessness, and eventual break-up, would it help?

Maybe it would plunge her deeper into sadness? Was it the right time, or even an appropriate subject to talk about? To commiserate, or not to commiserate – that was the question.

Using my bilingual sister as a translator, I told Nueng to relax and make herself at home.

“You can stay as long as you need to,” I said.

“Kop khun kaa, Khun J.C., kop khun kaa maak (Thank you, Mr. J.C., thank you very much.),” she said, with a respectful “Wai” (a Thai gesture that is performed by putting the hands together, prayer-like, and touching the thumbs to the chin).

“If you want to stay here, you have to call me just plain ole’ J.C. No ‘Mr.’ please. It makes me feel much older than I am,” I said.

After the translation, Nueng’s face lit up with a bright smile.

Then I heard her laugh for the first time since she arrived. It was a wonderful sound…

3) Process your emotional experience with a therapist. This goes for both the one who was cheated on and the one that did the cheating. This process is typically done without the partner in the room. Don’t be afraid to acknowledge the immense hurt and losses created by this situation. Losses such as no longer feeling special to your spouse or partner, the loss of trust, the loss of world order and quite possibly the loss of the lover.
4) Make an honest decision to stay and work on the marriage or relationship. By processing in therapy the emotional experience caused by infidelity, one can and needs to come to a decision to stay or leave the relationship. Without an honest decision one way or the other, the couple will be stuck and held in the pain of disconnection. If both decides to stay and work on the relationship, then every effort possible needs to be done to work through the infidelity and reestablish the trusting and loving bond.
5) Risk trusting in the relationship again. This process is tough. It’s like jumping off a cliff and hoping your partner will be there to catch you. And, the only way someone is going to reestablish trust is with the active participation of their partner. Without this participation, trust is not going to happen, no matter how hard one tries. Trust is not a one-way street, it takes two.
6) Once trust has begun to take hold and the foundation begins to rebuild, deepen the emotional experience through intense couple therapy, preferably Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT). This form of couple therapy is the most empirically supported form of couple therapy in psychology and works to create a deep, safe emotional connection between partners.

Infidelity is hard but not always too hard to overcome. Make a clear and honest choice to either stay and fight for the relationship or cash in your emotional chips. That decision is yours to make. As long as your partner is willing to work to reestablish trust, then the couple has a fighting chance to defeat the devastating Effects Infidelity can cause.

Are you sure it is really true? Have you really changed or are you merely in a reactive mode, responding in a knee-jerk way?

People do often react to painful situations by trying on different behaviors. This approach can be commendable because it can take a lot of energy and thought to drastically change some aspect of your behavior.

If you practice your new changes they may gradually take and become a real part of you. However, these types of changes usually lack staying power because they are really a sudden knee-jerk reaction to the crisis in your relationship.

Ultimately, you know it and so does your spouse. You are likely to return to your old patterns, as the heat on your relationship diminishes. Most likely, your spouse will know this and think that the changes will never last and are only a ploy to get him or her back once again.

These changes are often viewed by spouses as merely desperate attempts to manipulate the situation. Your partners initial reaction will be to resent these changes, even though they are what he/she has been requesting for a very long time.

If she or he had been disappointed by false promises before, the resulting resentful feelings may even be greater now and more distance may actually emerge. In this kind of situation, you are likely to lose credibility because your partner will find believing you too difficult; he or she will simply be too exhausted to know what to believe.

It is just a simplistic cop-out. The answer to saving a marriage wracked by infidelity is not to blame ones partner, but to participate in joint counseling which gets to the bottom of things. Counseling provides each of you with a forum to accept your own responsibility for each part of the problem, to evaluate alternatives and to commit to meaningful solutions.

You’re using your own, female yardstick to judge these guys without understanding the guys themselves. You’re assuming that because Kidman is more attractive (far more, in my humble) than Cruz that’s enough to keep him around. You probably also feel that way about Aniston.

I’ve heard this argument many times from women. It goes like this: “Well, she’s just so….gorgeous! What do these guys want anyway???” These foolish women are thinking that men are mostly interested in a woman’s looks and if some of the most beautiful women in the world can’t keep a guy, what chance do they have?

Sound familiar?

Women want to paint men with a broad brush in this way. Since they believe that men are purely visual; they also assume that’s all it takes to make a man happy.

Let’s take the celebrities out of the equation entirely here since you really don’t know the context of any of this. Both of these marriages could easily be shams; just as the divorces could have been, for the benefits of the performers. This has been used as a way to keep entertainers in the media “loop” since celebrity began! Thus, let’s not use it as an example of the real world.

With “real guys” you’re totally off-base thinking that if a woman is just beautiful enough, she’ll be able to keep a guy. Not so at all – it has very little to do looks. I constantly see women of average looks steal men from beauties! Why? Simple: a woman’s looks ONLY get her in the door. NOTHING ELSE. If this weren’t true, no woman over the age of 40 would ever have a relationship!

Men are looking for MANY other things. What are they looking for? That depends on the guy for a complete answer, but the reality is this: any woman that is sexually skilled and works to keep her man attracted to her sexually rarely loses him. That is a fact. Also a fact: bad marriages that have a great sex life rarely end, but even great marriages with bad sex lives almost always end.

Today, I see so many women doing really, really dumb things and then being surprised when they lose great guys – or just can’t seem to get dates. I’ve seen many people – even so called “experts” – telling women to do these dumb things! Interestingly, many of these same women come to me and tell me how something that they’ve been told just blew up in their faces. I just have to hang my head and wonder sometimes.

The bottom line is that men leave women because they aren’t getting what they want. It’s that simple. If you or any woman wants to keep her man around tomorrow, you’d better learn this fact and invest in him today. What I see happening is just the opposite. Men investing and investing and investing trying to get a return and finally just giving up and moving on because their woman didn’t pay off by bothering to learn what he needed to stay around.

I think people like to think that they are sly and in control of their emotions and body. However, there are a lot of body language things that people do that we aren’t away of or don’t have much control over.. especially when we’re in love and horny. Smiling/Giggling, blushing, twinkling eyes, wet spots in underwear are all things that the body does when it is aroused and that a person has little control of.

And you shall count seven Sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of seven Sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all the land. And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family (Leviticus 25:8-10).

In ancient Israel the year of Jubilee was meant to be celebrated each fiftieth year where all debt were canceled and all possessions returned to its original owner and all Hebrew slaves in Israel were set free. The Year of Jubilee (from Hebrew yobel, “ram’s horn”) is an extension of the Sabbath principle that begins with the day of rest every seventh day, extended in the Sabbatical Year fallow every seventh year, to the Jubilee. The Jubilee year following each cycle of seven 7-year periods, counting from Israel’s entry into the Promised Land. Seven of these seven-year periods (7 x 7 = 49) were to be counted, and the following year, the 50th, was to be a Jubilee year. The length of each cycle toward the year of Jubilee is fifty years. The trumpet of the Jubilee is to be sounded throughout all the land to consecrate the 50th year and to proclaim liberty to all inhabitants of the land.

The Jubilee Year, like the Sabbatical Year, was also to be a year of rest for the land, in which sowing, reaping, and harvesting were forbidden. The land had complete rest. This meant that the produce of the 48th year of each 50-year cycle would be the primary food source for that year and for a little over two years following, until the harvest of the 51st, or the year after the Jubilee.

The Jubilee was the entire year a festival of restoration, a year of liberty. The observance of it would demonstrate Israel’s faith in God and it would be a time of thanksgiving and joy in His provision. There is no indication in the Scriptures that the Year of Jubilee was observed. If Israel would have observed this commandment of the Lord, every Israelite would have been freed from permanent poverty.

It was on the tenth day of the seventh month (in the month of Tishri), on the Day of Atonement, that the curved animal horn, was sounded, proclaiming liberty throughout the land. This meant freedom for Hebrew slaves, many of whom had sold themselves because of poverty. Such release normally came in the seventh year of servitude (Exodus 21:2), but the Jubilee provided liberty for those who had served less than six years. All hereditary land possessions (houses in villages and fields of the country) that had been sold were returned. Each man returned to his family and his ancestral possession. No family was to sink into depths of perpetual poverty. God meant for every family to prosper. Even a person who squandered his substance could not forever lose his inheritance for his posterity. Though the people would occupy the land in Canaan, the ownership of the land is the Lord’s. The Israelites themselves were strangers and sojourners with the Lord (Leviticus 25:23-24). If Israel kept the law of the Lord, every one of them would have come into his possession. God would have blessed and prospered them; they would have lend to many nations, but would not have borrowed; they would have reigned over many nations, but they would not have reigned over them (Leviticus 25:8-10; Deuteronomy 15:4-5).

The Jubilee was for the people’s sake. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family (Leviticus 25:10b, emphasis added). Each family shall have their heritage restored according to that which their ancestors received when they entered the Promised Land. Each family shall be free as their ancestors were on the day they entered the Promised Land.

The Jubilee was a type and shadow of a better Jubilee to come, the true Jubilee that God envisaged for His people. It entails the restoration of all possessions and liberty that Adam has lost in the Garden of Eden through sin.

When God created man He gave him dominion over the earth. Adam and Eve were overflowing with heavenly peace and liberty as they ruled the Garden of Eden, their Promised Land, in the cool of the day.

When Adam fell from perfection in God he lost his freedom in God and became a slave of sin and death. He was unable to please God and incapable of bringing fulfillment to the earth. He lost everything he had in God!

Adam, through sin, lost all of his possessions to Satan. He tore the universe, which was one realm in God, into two realms. Two symbolizes separation. Sin separated Adam from God. God who is holy will not share the same domain with sinful flesh. He will not share His glory with someone that is outside of Him. Man was casted into the natural or lower realm of creation which is covered with a cloud of doubt and fear because of the presence of the evil one. Man, as a dead soul, found himself isolated from God, dwelling in the kingdom of the ruler of this world, the natural realm, while the living God remains in His abode in the Spirit. God never changed but when sin entered into man he signed all of his possessions over to Satan and lost his freedom in the Holy Spirit as he fell from light into darkness.

God in His foreknowledge provided a Jubilee for man, to regain what he had lost in Adam. Jesus is the fulfillment of the believer’s Jubilee. And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He opened the book, He found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing” (Luke 4:17-21).

Jesus is the Anointed One, the Lamb of God without blemish. He alone could do it because the Spirit of the Lord is upon Him. He is the Anointed One, the Christ or Messiah, the prophet that was liken unto Moses to preach the gospel to the poor; to everyone that has lost his or her heritage in Adam. He came to heal the broken hearted for how shall the Lord’s people sing the songs of Zion in a strange land. He came blowing the ram’s horn, proclaiming liberty to the captives and the acceptable year of the Lord. He came to recover the sight of the blind which they lost in Adam; failing to see the kingdom of God. He came to take away the depression due to the loss of our possessions and freedom caused by the insubordination of the infidel Adam. The day Jesus read it, he declared it fulfilled. Then he made the provision valid by sealing it in His blood on the cross. Thank you Lord Jesus; for all eternity we will sing your praise!

Though the Lord forever sealed Jubilee in the New Covenant in His blood we do not yet see that we have attained bodily to the resurrection from the dead and made perfect in the soul and see all things under Him. There remains in the plan of God a time frame of fulfillment.

Much was written on the restoration of all things by excellent men of God, much more spectacular than I can ever present to you, but to me was given to see in visions, dreams and revelation the time frames of the plan of God. The significance of the Year of Jubilee is far more significant than we can ever think or imagine. To see the restoration of all things without the time schedule of God is to see half a picture or a vision with little understanding.

The models of Sabbath and Jubilee contain the mystery of the time frames of God’s creation and redemption plans. The Sabbatical and Jubilee cycles of God, which He gave to the ancient Israelites as laws to keep, are types and shadows of the time frames of His creation and redemption plans. The Sabbatical and Jubilee cycles emphasize different time cycles and time frames. This marvelous mystery is hidden in the Scriptures.

How long did it take God to create the heavens and the earth? For in six days the Lord made the heavens and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day (Exodus 20:11a). Was it six 24-hour days?

Some say that each of the six days could have been a different time period which was called a creation day. Some says it was 6 year-days and others are adamant that God created the heavens and earth in six 24-hour days. What do the Scriptures say about it?

Firstly, God used His Sabbatical model in His creation plan. He created the heavens and earth in six days and on the seventh day he rested. If God created the heavens and earth in six 24-hour days God would have fulfilled His rest and His redemption plan 24 hours later. We are still on earth, waiting for Christ’s return, testifying that this view is not true. The carnal mind does not have revelation concerning the things of the Spirit.

If God created the heavens and earth in six years God would have completed His rest and redemption plan one year later. Even if God’s creation days were 1 000 year periods His rest and redemption plan would have been completed thousands of years ago. We are still walking the earth. If creation days were different time periods then the use of the word day in the creation account was used inappropriately – in such a case, a different word would have been used. The word day in Genesis 1 signifies a certain fixed time period. Since nature teaches us that days are more or less equal time periods it means every creation day was of equal time period. The six days in Genesis 1 refers to six equal fixed time periods. All Scriptures were inspired by the Holy Spirit and therefore the use of the word day is perfect even as His inspiration is perfect. So we can discard the idea that each creation day was of a different time period.

So, His creation and redemption plan was based on a Sabbatical model with each day all equal time periods. What was the time period of one creation day? The Bible does not tell us directly how long a creation day was but gives us clues how to determine it. It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter (Proverbs 25:2). What do the Scriptures teach us how to go about it? The Bible indicates that an object may obtain a specific meaning by its inherent characteristics and/or uses. So, the length of a creation day of God, which is omitted in Scripture, can be interpreted by the inherited time characteristics of a day as we know it.

Scriptures to support above statement are as follows: But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you; and the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; and the fish of the sea will explain to you (Job 12:7-8). More Scriptures to support Job’s statement are as follows.

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard (Psalm 19:1-3, emphasis added).

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse (Romans 1:20, emphasis added).

Nature testifies, day by day that the time period of a single day is more or less equal in length in comparison with all other days, namely 24 hours. Thus, nature testifies that not only 24-hour days as we know it but also God’s creation days were more or less equal in length of time. If we can determine the length of the seventh day, the day of God’s rest we will know the time length of each of God’s creation days. From Adam to Christ is 4 000 years; from Christ to date is 2 000 years and from the present to the end of His millennial reign is 1 000 years, totaling a period of 7 000 years.

So, we have established that one creation day is 7 000 years. The creation period lasted for 42 000 years (6 days x 7 000 years). Every seventh millennium during creation was a Sabbath for creation. But in the seventh year there shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land (Leviticus 25:4).

Peter laid down the principal that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day (2 Peter 3:8). If we apply this principal to the Sabbath and Jubilee cycles we come to see that each creation day of God was 7 000 years and that God’s redemption and creation plan is 50 000 years (1000 x 50 years). And you shall count seven Sabbaths (7 x 7000 years) of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of seven Sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine (49 x 1000 years) years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all the land. And you shall consecrate the fiftieth (50 x 1 000 years) year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family (Leviticus 25:8-10).

How can you be sure that this is the truth? By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established (2 Corinthians 13:1). To give you a witness for everything will warrant me to write a book on the subject, which I hopefully will do in 2010. However, I can give you some Scriptural and other witnesses from nature, which I hope will satisfy most of your questions.

The most important witness is the birth and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. From the beginning of creation to Christ was 46 000 years. From the beginning of creation to Adam is 42 000 (6 days x 7 000 years) years. From Adam to Christ is a further 4 000 years, totaling 46 000 years since God created heavens and the earth.  The temple of the human body has 46 genes or units of inheritance that is carried on chromosomes, controls transmission of hereditary characters, and consists of DNA. It took the Jews 46 years to build the temple. Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years (46 000 years) to build this temple (old creation), and will you raise it up in three (three thousand years = two thousand years of church age plus one thousand years of Christ’s millennial reign) days? (John 2:20). From the above witnesses it is evident that 46 is the number of the old creation. It is 46 000 years since the beginning of creation to Christ, 46 years it took the fathers to build the temple and the human temple has 46 genes. Jesus came in the 46th millennium since creation to take away the old creation that He may establishes the new creation. He said it will take Him 3 days (3 000 years) to complete His temple. After 49 000 years (46 000 years plus 3000 years) since God started His creation, His temple will be completed. After two days (2 000 year church age) He will revive us; on the third day (Millennial reign of the Lord) He will raise us up, that we may live in His sight (Hosea 6:2).

And He said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day (3 000 years; 49th millennium) I shall be perfected (in His body of believers)’ (Luke 13:32).

Since the day of Christ to date is 2 000 years totaling a period of 48 000 years since God started to fashion His creation. So, according to Scripture until now creation is more or less 48 000 years old (46 000 years until Christ plus 2 000 years of the Church age).

The first 42 000 years (the period before the transgression) was a period of innocence and perfection. There was no sin and death. Death came by Adam. The foolishness of Adam’s infidelity cause us a detour of 7 000 years. It is now six thousand years since his transgression. If sin and death reign only for 6 000 years, how is it that scientists say that death reigns for millions of years. They say dinosaurs ruled the earth before man’s existence and were extinct before man exists. There is evidence in museums where dinosaurs and men co-exist. Scientist’s carbon dating procedures are based on the assumption that pressure and moisture that formed fossils all over the crust of the earth in all time frames are more or less the same. Because of this insane assumption their carbon dating results on fossils are frightening erroneous. The flood in which the Lord destroyed the earth produced massive uneven pressures and moisture levels at different places in the crust of the earth which formed fossils. It produced different results of the same thing at the same time at different geographical locations; at some places a simulation of millions of years.

Despite the roaring of the nations, we are in an overlapping period – the closing of one day (48th millennium) and the dawning of another day (49th millennium).

We are at the dawning of the millennial reign of our Lord Jesus Christ on earth. It is the time of the seventh Sabbath of years, the dawning of the forty-ninth millennium, the Sabbath of Sabbaths, the rest that the Lord has prepared for His people to enter in. An Angel will come down from heaven and will bind Satan for a thousand years and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, so that he should not deceive the nations no more till the thousand years will finished (Revelation 20:1-3). And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years (Revelation 20:4-6).

When the thousand years expired the rest of the dead in Christ will live again. This is the 50th millennium the Jubilee that the Lord has planned for us since the foundation of the earth. Satan will be released again from his prison to deceive the nations. When Satan’s army will surround the camp of the saints and the beloved city fire will come down from God out of heaven and devour them. The devil will be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever. The righteous will be free as when Adam walked with God in the cool of the day and they will be co-heirs with Christ; their possessions that they have lost in Adam will be restored. It will also be a time when the dead will be judged each one according to his works. Anyone not found written in the Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire. The war against Satan’s army, the reward of the just and the judgment of the wicked will all take place during Jubilee.

In “Experiences from ‘The Flow’ (7) – Living Well? Farangs and Finance: The Myth,” I explained that most Thai people believe that “ALL FARANGS (Thai: foreigners) ARE RICH.” The reasons for this? Free-spending tourists, currency power, and, by Thai standards, “luxurious” living.

In this article, I will describe the reality for most Farangs’ living in Thailand.

After reading about the “real deal” – the financial life and cultural pressures bestowed upon most Farangs in Thailand, I hope you begin to understand that life in “Paradise” has its challenges.

- Reality -

Most Farangs living in Thailand, especially Farang teachers, barely make ends meet. By the time normal living expenses are accounted for, there’s little (if any) leftover from their meager monthly salaries.

In fact, they usually suffer from the “too much month leftover after the money” crisis.

Additionally, Farangs must pay for their visas and work permits. If they should absently let their visas expire, they must pay 500 baht per day of over-stay.

Those Farangs who have not obtained their work permits are forced to make monthly trips outside of Thailand to one of the neighboring countries (e.g., Laos, Cambodia, or Vietnam) before their 30-day visa expires – an expense that Thai people do not have to deal with.

Granted, some Farangs piss away their money on booze and women (a convenient pastime to be found everywhere). But in my experience, many Farangs simply fall short financially because they cannot enjoy all the money-saving benefits of being Thai (e.g., living rent-free with their parents, local Thai prices, a huge safety network of friends and family to rely on during emergencies, etc.).

Furthermore, Farangs are pressured by their Thai friends and Thai society to appear richer than they actually are.

I have a Farang friend who didn’t need (or even want) a car. But, according to local Thai culture, “All Farangs, especially old, stable, and married Farang teachers, should drive a car.” If they didn’t have a car, something must be “wrong” with him.

Maybe he had a few “Mia Noi’s” (translated: minor wife or wives, concubine or mistresses) that took the better part of his salary to maintain? Maybe he was a drunk or drug addict? Believe me, Thai’s can come up with some imaginative scenarios; scenarios that actually are played out in many Thai households.

Since he needed to “look the part” of a rich, old Farang English teacher, he and his wife ended up purchasing a vehicle. Not doing so would have doomed them both to public and private shame. Life for them would have been unbearable in the Mubon (Thai: village) and Soi (Street).

But, of course, now they must deal with a 5-year, monthly “mortgage” for their vehicle; a vehicle they probably will never drive often because of the stifling traffic jams in and around Bangkok.

Fortunately, since I am single and younger, I can get away with simply driving my motorcycle.

And personally, I couldn’t justify paying a large car note over many years just to satisfy societal expectations – especially for a car I neither needed, nor wanted!

I’d rather keep my age, status, and profession a secret from all but my closest friends – or simply move to another Mubon or Soi.

It doesn’t end there.

Thai culture also lends itself toward putting young Thais at an advantage (financially) over older Farangs.

Many times, after being invited to dinner at a restaurant or BBQ by my Thai friends, colleagues, or students, I still ended up footing the bill. Why? 1) Because I’m a Farang and 2) I’m usually the oldest person in the group. In Thai culture, with the exception of non-working parents/grandparents, the oldest person normally pays for the whole group.

Another big expense that most Farangs are not used to is the expense of relationships.

A Farang boyfriend is normally obligated to support not just his partner, but also the family of his partner. If he doesn’t acquiesce to this accepted social norm, it sends a clear message to all: This Farang is stingy, a “Cheap Charlie,” “Kee Nee Ow” – translated: “sticky shit,” you can’t squeeze anything out of it! Therefore; since he’s so cheap with her, he really doesn’t love his girlfriend.

In fact, as distasteful as it may sound to most foreigners, a Thai woman will not consider ANY relationship or ANY suitor as being serious unless she receives something of substantial monetary value first (e.g., jewelry, a mobile phone, motorcycle, ATM account, car, etc.).

I’m lucky to enjoy an ex-pat, military monthly pension and don’t have to rely solely on my English teacher salary for my living expenses. Several times during my two-year stay in Thailand, I have lent out money to many Farang teachers because they didn’t have enough money to eat.

Money is REGARDED IN TOTALLY DIFFERENT TERMS in Asia than it is in the West. In Western countries, money is a tool to be used to enjoy life. Furthermore, Money issues and Love are separated in the West.

In Asia, money means LIFE, LOVE – EVERYTHING. Since the majority of Asian people are poverty stricken, money can mean the difference between life and death; happiness and sadness, hate and love, bachelorhood and marriage, etc.

Want an example?

About three years ago, while living in a remote part of Asia, I witnessed dozens of totally preventable deaths (usually from common illnesses or infections) simply because the people were too poor to make the trip to the next town’s hospital, pay for a doctor, or pay for medicine (common, over-the-counter antibiotics). Of course, the hospital didn’t have an ambulance and medical insurance was unheard of.

- Stupidity and Hard Knocks -

Needless to say, I watched my new girlfriend’s spending habits closely…

…and was delightfully surprised.

After two years of living in Thailand, and especially these last few months living with Nueng (Thai: Number One), I realized how dumb I was (monetarily and otherwise) with the ex-girlfriend.

I now know just how expensive and wasteful my ex-girlfriend really was.

The magnitude of my stupidity?

Well, to begin with, I used to give her (the ex) the equivalent of a normal Thai working man’s daily wage in the morning JUST FOR HER BREAKFAST. Then I would come home and give her the same amount JUST FOR OUR DINNER!

She also enjoyed an exorbitant monthly allowance (allegedly for her living expenses and aging mother). The amount easily surpassed the monthly salary for a college educated, 60+ hours a week, Thai teacher!

Lastly, twice a month, I would give her “toiletry” money. Supposedly, the money was for shampoo, lotion, soap, etc.

I now know that the amount of money I gave her every two weeks for her hygiene needs was enough money to spend a full day at the mall shopping, entertaining her friends, eating at a restaurant, and sometimes, even watching a movie!

What did she use the money for? Who knows? What I do know is that she never saved ANY money I gave her. By the time I came home from work everyday, she was always flat broke.

In contrast, Nueng and I live nicely (and happily) on a fraction of the ex-girlfriend’s expenses alone!

Nueng saves almost every baht that I give her.

When she spends any money (her money or mine) she gives me the receipt. She does this to show me that she’s not wasting our money AND to make it clear that she isn’t hiding anything from me.

Since she just ended a long relationship of lies, infidelity, and abuse; honesty is very, very important to her.

And as a veteran of a recent abusive relationship, it’s a central issue for me too…

Getting over an affair takes time, but it can happen. If you ‘re honest with yourself and your partner and take honest actions to set things right, you’ll come out of it a stronger, happier couple.

The break up was painful, and the time apart is excruciating. You think about that man night and day, usually while either sobbing or stomping around angry.
